Technology Leadership

An IT strategy review and implementation of findings

Our client

A private equity (PE) backed sector-leader in freight and logistics based in the UK.

Following completion of the PE acquisition, the incoming CEO sought to understand the true status of their business-critical IT systems and processes as input to their technology and digital roadmap. They also sought to avoid a loss of momentum while rebuilding their senior leadership team.

Our role

In discussion with the CEO and senior leadership team, CMS developed and agreed a terms of reference for a strategic IT review covering areas including technology strategy, technology roadmap, key suppliers, IT operations, IT expenditure, data, and reporting. This review was subsequently delivered on-time and on-budget.

Following successful delivery, CMS then structured the project to implement the review's recommendations, managed the overall project and took direct ownership on the implementation of several recommendations.

Value delivered

Stage 1: Rapid delivery of an executive-focused, actionable, realistic report covering the client’s current technology landscape and interconnected operational processes. This provided a compass-point to the organisation highlighting what good could look like for IT digital enablement and proved invaluable to the client’s leadership team and PE owners.

Stage 2: Leadership of the overall project and implementation of several recommendations ahead of the arrival of the client’s new IT leader. Aside from the benefits associated with these recommendations, this provided the new IT leader with a jump-start significantly accelerating their onboarding.

Don’t take our word for it, read what the CEO had to say below:

"Keith’s pragmatic and measured style ensured that the output of his review for us was everything I needed – adding real value at both strategic and tactical levels. His high level of EI meant he was able to productively interact with our complex and varied stakeholder groups. I would highly recommend Keith and would not hesitate to engage him again in the future.”
